NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The suspects connected to the shooting of a Tulane med school student made appearances before a magistrate judge in New Orleans to have bonds set.
The accused shooter, 21-year-old Euric Cain, faces a list of charges. He was ordered held on no bond in connection with the attempted murder and kidnapping charges. Cain also faces two armed robbery charges for which bond was set at $150,000 and $250,000.
Cain is accused of attacking a woman Friday morning (Nov. 20) at about 4:30. Then, when Tulane medical student Peter Gold stopped his car and attempted to intervene, Cain is accused of shooting Gold in the gut. Surveillance video of the shooting also shows Cain apparently trying to shoot Gold again but the gun jams.

Police arrested Cain at a house in the 2200 block of Delechaise Street. They say 17-year-old Nictoria Washington, who police identify as Cain's girlfriend, was also at the house. She was booked with accessory to armed robbery. Tuesday, her bond was set at $100,000.
At last word, Gold remained hospitalized in stable condition.

Police ID man accused of shooting Tulane medical studentNEW ORLEANS (AP) — New Orleans police have identified a man accused of shooting a medical student who stopped an apparent kidnapping.
Police say 21-year-old Euric Cain of New Orleans is wanted on charges of armed robbery, second-degree kidnapping and attempted first-degree murder.
Tulane University and Crimestoppers are offering up to $12,500 for information leading to arrest and indictment.
Surveillance video released by police shows a man dragging a woman toward an SUV early Friday, and 25-year-old Peter Gold pulling up and trying to help her.
Police say the man demanded money and shot Gold when he said he didn't have any. A misfire apparently foiled an attempt to shoot him in the head.
The woman was treated for minor injuries.
Tulane spokesman Keith Brannon says Gold's family said Sunday that he's improving but remains in guarded condition.

For Mama and Aunt Jeannie --- 9 Wild Animals That Vanished During Our Lifetime

                              Gastric-Brooding Frog
This eastern Australian native ate its young—sort of. Unlike other frogs, the gastric-brooding frog incubated its offspring in its stomach. Scientists presume the female swallowed its eggs, and after six to seven weeks, fully formed frogs emerged from her mouth. Unfortunately, the International Union for Conservation of Nature declared this unique genus extinct in 2002. The reasons behind its disappearance remain unclear, but timber harvesting and water quality are suspected .

                                Ivory-Billed Woodpecker 
The IUCN lists this bird, endemic to the United States and Cuba, as critically endangered. But despite many intensive searches, the last confirmed sighting was in 1987. It was reportedly spotted in the Big Woods region of Arkansas in 2004, but evidence—including a “poor-quality” video—remains controversial. (It’s debated whether the bird filmed was just another type of woodpecker.) Latest studies contend that the species is likely extinct. The culprits: logging, clearance for agriculture, and hunting.

                                          Javan Tiger 

Tiger populations have dropped 97 percent within the last 100 years. Among them is the Javan tiger, which the IUCN declared extinct in 2003 (though it hadn’t been spotted since 1976, in the Meru Betiri National Park in Java, Indonesia). Thanks to recent conservation efforts, the Bengal tiger in India might stand a better chance. Poaching is down, and more natural deaths of the big cats may signal that they’re recovering.

                                    Spix’s Macaw

Also known as the little blue macaw, this Brazilian native inspired the main characters of the animated film Rio. Several live in captivity, but the species likely went extinct in the wild because of trade and habitat loss, among other factors. The Spix’s macaw was last sighted in the wild in 2000 in a preservation site in Bahia, Brazil.

                         Po’ouli or Black-Faced Honeycreeper

The po’ouli likely went extinct a year or two after the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the San Diego Zoo tried to save it in 2004, when three individuals were confirmed to exist. The conservationists were only able to capture one of them for breeding, but it turned out to be male—leading them to believe that no female remains. The captive po’ouli has since died. 

                               Yangtze River Dolphin 

This small white dolphin, endemic to the Yangtze River (one of the busiest waterways in the planet), had been around for 20 million years before scientists announced its extinction in 2006. They blamed ship collisions, dams, overfishing, and environmental destruction.

                              Caribbean Monk Seal 

The only seals known to be native to the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean monk seals—or “sea wolves,” as Christopher Columbus called them in 1494—were last seen in 1952 on the Serranilla Bank between Honduras and Jamaica. Hunters began targeting the seals for their fur, meat, and oil when the Italian explorer landed in the New World; fishing and coastal development drove the species to its demise in later years. The IUCN declared the Caribbean monk seal extinct in 1986.

                           Western Black Rhinoceros 

About a million black rhinos roamed Africa in the early 1900s. By 2011, the IUCN had declared them extinct. The causes: sports hunting, then agricultural clearing. Economic growth in China, where traditional medicine promotes powdered rhino horn as a cure-all, ultimately spelled the end of the species.

                              Pinta Island Tortoise

The recent discovery of hybrid tortoises descended from this Galápagos Island native gave scientists hope. But the 2012 death of the last surviving Pinta Island tortoise, Lonesome George, was nonetheless devastating. A Hungarian scientist spotted him in 1971, when the species was thought to be extinct because of meat harvesting and the introduction of goats and pigs that laid waste to its habitat. Today, Lonesome George is just another museum exhibit.

You must stop Big Oil and coal and natural gas. The planet is being destroyed because of fossil fuels. We have renewable energy solutions. Change is needed now. Change is good. We need to go to a electric car world. Get rid of all the gas powered everything. Lawn mowers the riding kind put out so much pollution. A new invention that connects to exhaust pipe filters 98% of the pollutants out. It cost 30 dollars. Save the environment and save the world. We need everything in our world. Nature has a purpose for everything except humans. We need to realize this is one world. Men are killing everything. A mans world that is failing. Like Nero they'll fiddle while everything burns. They never do seem to learn. Always believe they are more cleaver than the ones that came before. Obviously they really are worse.

I wrote my byline  and  asked my daddy to  write it so  all the  grown-ups  will hopefully understand .

Willie Nelson sings there’s ‘room for everyone’ in America

Willie Nelson has weighed in on the debate over Syrian refugees.

In front of a Washington, D.C., crowd, including a smattering of lawmakers, the 82-year-old “outlaw” musician sang that there’s “room for everyone” in America, after accepting the Library of Congress’ Gershwin Prize for Popular Song Wednesday night.
“I think this is one of the most appropriate songs that we could do for this period in America,” Nelson told the crowd at Washington’s DAR Constitution Hall. “Many years ago, I recorded this song and I felt like this might be a good time to kind of try to bring it back.”

Bookended by his sons Lukas and Micah, Nelson then eased into 1986’s “Living in the Promiseland,” where he sang, “Give us your tired, your weak, and we will make them strong … There’s still a lot of love, living in the Promiseland.” At center stage, Nelson gave his variation of the poem found at the Statue of Liberty’s feet.

“Leave it to Willie: Only he can bring together Republicans and Democrats,” host Don Johnson said.

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) gave Nelson a big thumbs-up, while GOP congresswoman Candice Miller smiled warmly. Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) also smiled and clapped generally throughout, but House Majority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), as spotted by NewsHour’s political director Lisa Desjardins, watched expressionless, mostly thumbed through his cell phone until the end of the song, when he clapped with the rest of the audience.

Only a man who once smoked weed atop the White House, according to Willie lore, could make a room with politicians slightly uncomfortable.

There was a standing ovation, but the crowd didn’t sit back down because Nelson ended the night with the thematic one-two punch, following up “Promiseland” with “On the Road Again,” one of his signature hits. If “Promiseland” was the plea for acceptance, Nelson’s proclamation that “The life I love is making music with my friends” is the goal realized.

Longtime friends and performers who paid tribute to the red-headed troublemaker at the beginning of the concert joined Nelson on stage to sing along in solidarity, including Neil Young, Rosanne Cash, Alison Krauss, Leon Bridges, Paul Simon, among others.

Wednesday night’s concert was a snapshot of the musician’s storied discography of more than 100 albums.

The Library of Congress awarded Nelson its pop music prize, saying that the singer-songwriter was a “musical explorer.”

“Like America itself, [Nelson] has absorbed and assimilated diverse stylistic influences into his stories and songs,” Librarian of Congress James H. Billington said in a statement. “He has absorbed and assimilated diverse stylistic influences into his stories and songs.

Raised during the Great Depression in a small Texas farming town, Nelson has documented the weight of poverty, heartache and regret in a career that continues into its sixth decade.

However, any roads of darkness described in his songs were traversed by a cowboy musician with flaming red hair in New Balance tennis shoes. Nelson’s drive has also meant a never-ending touring schedule of Fourth of July picnics, weed politics and small farm activism.

Nelson is the first country music artist to receive the prize. The award has previously been given to Billy Joel, Carole King, Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney and Paul Simon, who performed two of Willie’s songs for the concert.

Young opened the proceedings with Nelson’s concert staple, “Whiskey River,” a jaunty take on a tragic struggle with the “amber current.” Simon, backed by accordionist Buckwheat Zydeco, did a little jig in the middle of “Man With the Blues.” Krauss sang “Angel Flying too Close to the Ground” with all the fragility of a love lost. And when Mexican singer Ana Gabriel sang the kiss-off “I Never Cared For You” in Spanish, the song’s agony was not lost in translation.

Raúl Malo of the Mavericks took on “Crazy,” the iconic country ballad that Nelson wrote for Patsy Cline, years before he broke out as a solo artist in the 1970s.

Much was made at the concert of how the young songwriter challenged the “Nashville machine” in the 1950s and 1960s. In his autobiography, Nelson said he had trouble selling “Crazy” to Nashville ears because “[i]f a song had more than three chords in it, there was a good chance it wouldn’t ever be called country.”

“Crazy” had at least four chords.

“Not that ‘Crazy’ is real complicated,” Nelson wrote, “it just wasn’t your basic three-chord country hillbilly song.”

Many of the concert’s performers also didn’t mimic Nelson’s trademark off-beat phrasing, which never gelled with the Nashville standard. Especially in a live setting, Nelson is unhurried by the band.

“I could sing on the beat if I wanted to,” Nelson wrote, “but I could put more emotion in my lyrics if I phrased in a more conversational, relaxed way.”

President Carter, who was unable to attend the concert, wrote a letter to Nelson that Johnson read to the crowd.

Carter congratulated his friend of 30 years, saying that the country music legend’s “music has enriched the lives of people far and wide for decades, and it is only fitting that your life’s work be honored in this way.”

“Your music has become the soundtrack of our lives,” he said.

It's been three years since the Honey Boo Boo squad first graced our television screens — and we surely can't forget all the laughs and life lessons we learned watching our favorite redneck family.

Look out, world because Mama June is coming back! Or if you’re anything like me, you’re probably thinking, “For the love of God, why?” Ha! For many fans, however, the question of whether or not the popular Thompson family would be returning to television has been on their minds for quite some time. Okay, well at least ever since the show 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo' was canned after June’s alleged sexual affair with a child molester came to light.

Someone say it isn’t so, please? I wish I could, but unfortunately, it is true people. The Honey Boo Boo clan will be back, and this is straight out of the horse’s Mama June’s mouth. “Ok for everyone [who] asked if we are going to be back on TV, the answer is yes and it will be very soon,” the family matriarch posted recently on her Facebook page.

Eagles of Death Metal give new statement on Paris attacks: 'We are horrified'

Eagles of Death Metal, the California band that played Le Bataclan in Paris on Friday night when 89 people were killed, have issued their first extended statement since the attack:

While the band is now home safe, we are horrified and still trying to come to terms with what happened in France. Our thoughts and hearts are first and foremost with our brother Nick Alexander, our record company comrades Thomas Ayad, Marie Mosser, and Manu Perez, and all the friends and fans whose lives were taken in Paris, as well as their friends, families, and loved ones.

Although bonded in grief with the victims, the fans, the families, the citizens of Paris, and all those affected by terrorism, we are proud to stand together, with our new family, now united by a common goal of love and compassion.

We would like to thank the French police, the FBI, the U.S. and French State Departments, and especially all those at ground zero with us who helped each other as best they could during this unimaginable ordeal, proving once again that love overshadows evil.

Opening band White Miles have also issued a statement that echoes EODM's sentiments: "We are in good health, though the events are still too close, the impressions too touching. A member of our crew, who sold merchandise articles, was shot and killed. A good friend of ours has been shot, but blessedly he is on the way to recovery. It's difficult for us to come to terms with the terrible incident."

On Monday, Le Bataclan shared its first statement since the attack: "Dear friends, No words are enough to express the magnitude of our grief. Our thoughts are with the victims, the injured and their families. Many of you have wanted to gather in remembrance at the Bataclan. Unfortunately, the authorities still need to work at the site. We will keep you informed as soon as it is possible to you gather in front of the room. We thank you for your support which affects us deeply."

CHARLIE SHEEN : Threats of Lawsuits UNRAVELED HIV SECRET

Charlie Sheen kept his HIV status under wraps, but everything unraveled when some former partners threatened him with lawsuits ... TMZ has learned.

As we reported, Charlie will appear on "Today" and reveal he's HIV positive. We're told he's known about his status for more than a year and he kept a lid on the information.
We're told things changed when Charlie confided in several friends he thought were confidants ... it turned out they weren't, and spread the word he was HIV positive.

That led to several of Charlie's former partners contacting him and threatening a lawsuit because they were unaware of his status when they had interaction with him. Our sources say Charlie settled several of the cases and, in return for money, got confidentiality agreements.
We're told one of the settlements occurred late last month.
We also know when people go to Charlie's house they are almost always required to sign confidentiality agreements which require anyone who might make a claim to do so in arbitration and not through the courts ... which thereby keeps things private.

So called straight men who like to cheat on their wives/girlfriends with other men/women and not use protection is the main reason why the disease is still running rampant today.
