Prince William and Kate have adopted a b aby penguin named Acorn.
The new Duke and Duchess of Cramb ridge received the 12-month adoption of the endangered Hamboldt penguin as a wedding gift from the Chester Zoo.
The facility had asked followers on social networking sites to choose the species to be offered to the Royals .
"We thought that they're both fairly nearby now on Anglesey, then William and Kate might like to take advantage of the free tickets in the adoption pack and spend a day here ," stated a spokeperson for the zoo , which is approximately 190 miles northwest of London .
Chester Zoo uses animal adoption to raised funds for conservation projects .
It's hoped that the couple will renew the adoption when it ends the next day.
