'New year's Eve : New # 1 At The Box Office

The all star  cast of New Year's Eve helped lift the romantic comedy to the top spot this weekend at the box office replacing "Breaking Dawn"  as North America's # 1 Movie .

New Year's Eve secured first place with $ 13.7 million in ticket sales .

Coming in second was the debut of  Jonah Hill's "The Sitter" with a box office take of $10 million .

And Nabb ing third was "Breaking Dawn with $ 7.9 million .

The Muppets and Arthur Christmas took fourth and fifth places , with $ 7.1 million and $ 6.6 milliom respectively .

Rounding out the top 10 were Hugo ($ 6.1 million) , The Descendants ($ 4.4 milliom) , Happy Feet Two ($3.8 million) , Jack & Jill ($3.2 million) and Immortals ($2.4 million) .
