Nicolas cage will not be criminally charged after allegedly attacking his wife last month during a drunken disturbance in New Orleans .
The District Attorney's Office has concluded that there was insufficient evidence to pursue a case against the Oscar winner .
He was taken into custody on April 16 after a public argument brought police . Cage challenged the cops to arrest him which they did , booking him on one count of disturbing the peace.
Later that day . Duane Chapman of "Dog the Bounty Hunter" fame posted Cage's $11,000 bail , leading to his release.
