Tom Cruise : Didn't Settle Divorce to Hide 'Secrets'

Tom Cruise did NOT settle his divorce with Katie Holmes because he feared she might spill secrets about the actor -- this according to Tom's lawyer.

Attorney Bert Fields scoffs at reports claiming Tom was fearful of what Katie might reveal, telling TMZ, "Tom had nothing to hide and did nothing in the agreement to hide anything. People are just making this stuff up.

As for the child custody arrangement, it appears Tom will indeed have the "significant" contact with Suri that we reported about last week. Fields said, "Tom will definitely have a meaningful relationship with his daughter, but I can't talk about specifics of the agreement."

Fields said Tom's primary concern in the settlement was Suri and added Tom was "pleased we could work out how Suri will be treated and dealt with."

And, on the subject of Katie Holmes, Fields said, "I don't think Tom is bitter. He's sad it came to this," adding, "The media firestorm which is replete with bogus information is unpleasant for him."

Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes : Divorce Settlement is Confidential

After Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes reached a settlement in their divorce yesterday, rumors swirled with regards to the specifics of the deal.

Many outlets, including People , reported yesterday that the couple’s daughter, Suri, 6, will live primarily with Holmes in New York with generous visitation by Cruise. People cites an anonymous source saying, "They both love their daughter, and Tom thinks she should be with her mother." Another anonymous source told People, "Neither one of them wanted this to be hashed out in public."

However, Katie Holmes’ attorney, Jonathan Wolfe, said to People ,

"There are numerous inaccuracies in the reports regarding the purported contents of the agreement reached between the parties. The agreement is confidential and its terms will not be disclosed."

Katie Holmes : Very happy With Divorce Settlement

The details surrounding Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise's divorce settlement will remain private , but sources say Holmes is "very happy" with the agreement.

Multiple sources confirmed to Us Weekly that the 33-year-old actress got everything she wanted -- including primary legal custody of their 6-year-old daughter, Suri.

"She won and is happy. Very happy," said a source close to the soon-to-be ex-Mrs. Cruise. "She can move on and finally live her life."

Holmes filed for divorced from her husband of five years on June 29 , and though a recent interview with Elle magazine suggests that Holmes had been planning to divorce Cruise for some time, sources told Us Weekly that her decision to end her marriage wasn't easy, and she "did this only for her daughter."

Holmes and Cruise came to a settlement in record time, and according to TMZ it was all because of Hollywood's best-dressed 6-year-old that things moved so quickly and with such civility.

Sources tell the website that it was a series of conversations about how Suri would be "irreparably damaged by parental warfare" that kept things between the superstar couple at bay, and allowed their lawyers to strike a deal.

As previously stated, details into the settlement have not been released and are likely to remain private. However, sources told Us Weekly the terms of the agreement will bring exciting changes for Holmes.

"She has her career back and her daughter. She will be a huge star now. . . This was all played so well. Katie is very happy with how it all came out," said the source.

Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes: Couple Reaches Agreement

Just over one week since Katie Holmes filed for divorce from Tom Cruise , the couple has issued a joint statement regarding the rumors and details surrounding their divorce , including the custody arrangement for their 6-year-old daughter, Suri.

Their reps, Nanci Ryder and Amanda Lundberg, released a statement Monday (via People):

"We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests. We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents."

Their reps confirm that the couple has reached a settlement in the divorce, although no details were immediately available. Sources told People that Suri will likely live with Holmes in New York , and Cruise will get visitation rights .

Since then, reports have surfaced saying Holmes will have "sole custody" of Suri . A source tells RadarOnline.com: "Under terms of the settlement , Suri isn't permotted to be exposed to anything Scientology related and this includes going to any Scientology churches, parties, etc. Katie made sure that this was ironclad in the agreement."

"This case has been settled and the agreement has been signed,"Holmes lawyer , Jonathan Wolfe , told TMZ Monday ,"We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life."

Holmes cited "irreconcilable differences" in her June 29 divorce filing and asked for sole custody of Suri, which led many people to believe her split from Cruise was anything but amicable.

"This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family," Wolfe told People at the time .. "Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest."

Cruise responded shortly after the news broke, with his rep stating, "Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy."

Sources told TMZ shortly after the split announcement that Scirntology was the reason for Holmes' decision to divorce Cruise , and that she feared Suri would get pulled further into the organization.

Holmes, who married Cruise in 2006, reportedly had a pre-nuptial agreement with the actor , entitling the actress to $3 million for every year she was married to Cruise, as well as their Montecito, Calif., home.

Other reports have suggested that Holmes will walk away from her marriage with little more than what she had when she said "I do."

Tom Cruise : Katie is Using Suri As a Weapon

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have cut off all contact with each other, and her people are making it difficult for Tom to have contact with his daughter ... sources very familiar with the situation tell TMZ.

Although Tom now has "absolutely no contact with Katie," his people are negotiating/bickering with Katie's people over when and how Tom can talk to Suri. We're told Tom does speak with his daughter by phone at least once a day, but sources connected with Tom say it hasn't been easy.

We're told when Tom's on the phone with Suri, there is one place he has not gone ... he has NOT discussed the breakup of his marriage with his daughter.

As for when Tom will attempt to see Suri ... sources say it's not going to happen for awhile. We're told Tom was in L.A. for the 4th but he's leaving before the weekend to shoot his new movie in the Rockies.

Our sources say things are "really bitter now" between Tom and Katie. He feels betrayed by her and thinks she is using Suri as a weapon.

And you don't need sources to know one thing -- if he's blocked from seeing Suri, his lawyers will make a beeline for court

Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes : Divorce Not Over Scientology

Katie Holmes may say her decision to divorce Tom Cruise is over Scientology, but it's NOT ... so say sources directly connected to Tom.

Our sources tell us ... they believe Katie and her team are leaking false stories to the media by maintaining she was trying to save Suri from the grips of Scientology, and that's why she left Tom.

As one well-connected Tom source put it, "She [Katie] was totally committed to Scientology. She had enthusiasm for it and would voluntarily and gladly participate in it when Tom was off shooting movies."

The source adds, "This is not a fight over religion. It's being used as a way to hurt Tom."

And on the subject of hurting Tom, as we first reported, sources connected with the actor tell us Katie's people have made it difficult for him to speak with Suri by phone, but he's talked to her every day. He has no immediate plans to see his daughter because he's leaving today or tomorrow to shoot his new movie in the Rockies.

Tom's lawyers have not filed any docs in court -- yet -- to establish his custodial rights. If that happens, we're told they will file in New York, although it's pretty clear they will ask to have the case sent to California.

And, as for what Tom's people say the divorce is really about ... they won't say yet, but tell us it's coming.

Tom Cruise's "33" Problem "WTF"

Tom Cruise & Mimi Rogers --Tom & Nicole Kidman - Tom & Katie Holmes

For Tom Cruise, 33 is an unlucky number when it comes to love.

All three of Tom Cruise’s ill-fated marriages have come to an end when his wives were 33, which just happens to be a significant number for the actor’s Church of Scientology.

The original membership organization for the controversial religious group, the Hubbard Association of Scientologists, was founded in Phoenix, Arizona, which lies on the 33rd parallel, Perez Hilton reports.

The number is also the known as the "Master Teacher," which represents altruism and raising mankind’s positive energy in numerology, according to Seven Life Path.

Tom Cruise and first wife Mimi Rogers during Swifty Lazar's Post Oscar Party at Spago's Restaurant in Hollywood.

The characteristics of the "Master Teacher" closely resemble the philosophy behind Scientology, which seeks "to enable Man to improve his lot through understanding," according to the religion’s official website.

Cruise, who joined the religious group in the 1980s, tied the knot with actress Mimi Rogers when she was 31 in May 1987. The two split just a few years later.

Tom Cruise and his wife Nicole Kidman arrive at the Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills back in 1997.

Cruise then wed Nicole Kidman when she was 23 in 1990. The actor filed for divorce in 2001 just two months after the pair renewed their vows on their 10th anniversary.

Katie Holmes announced that she was filing for divorce from the star Friday due to "irreconcilable differences." The couple have been married for five years.

In each failed marriage, the wives were 33 when the breakups were announced. The first two splits weren’t finalized until the wives were 34.

The bombshell breakup with Holmes is the first time the "Top Gun" star isn’t the one filing the divorce papers.

Katie Holmes and actor Tom Cruise arrive at the 2012 Vanity Fair Oscar Party in West Hollywood earlier this year. She has filed for divorce from the 49-year-old actor.

The former "Dawson’s Creek" star reportedly decided to split with Cruise because she was concerned that the actor would "drag" their 6-year-old daughter Suri farther in to the religion as she gets older, according to TMZ.

A rep for Cruise said the actor is devastated by news of the split.

The couple’s divorce, when finalized, will not be recognized by Scientology.

Tom Cruise : Tops Everyone In The Money Department

Tom Cruise may not be numero uno with Katie Holmes anymore, but he's # 1 in the money department.

Forbes just came out with a list of the highest paid actors in Hollywood -- and Tom is tops at $75 mil for the period between May 2011 and May 2012.

As we first reported, Tom won't be sharing that money with Katie, because their prenup cuts her out of his fortune. Of course, she can challenge the prenup ... a definite possibility.

FYI ... Tom pulled in more than twice what the #2 raked in -- and that would be Leo DiCaprio and Adam Sandler at $37 mil each.

Katie Holmes :Don't Want Scientology Interrogating Suri

The E-METER is a machince like a lie detector ---

Katie Holmes desperately wanted to save Suri from a form of interrogation practiced by the Church of Scientology that she was steadfastly against ... TMZ has learned.

Sources close to Katie tell TMZ, back in 2005 she had witnessed Tom's other kids participating in a Scientology ritual she found to be troubling ... and feared Tom would drag Suri through the same process.

Ex-Scientologists call the process "sec checking." Here's the way it works. The subject holds electrode handles on a device called an e-meter and is then asked a series of personal questions that help the Church locate "areas of spiritual distress."

Some ex-Scientologists claim the questions include:

-- What has somebody told you not to tell?

-- Have you ever decided you did not like some member of your family?

-- Have you ever bullied a smaller child?

-- Have you ever lied to a teacher?

-- Have you ever done something you were very much ashamed of?

-- Have you ever refused to obey an order from someone you should obey?

-- Have you ever gotten yourself dirty on purpose?

During the process, a person called an "auditor" collects e-meter readings.

Several ex-Scientologists have come out against "sec checking," claiming it's a mild form of psychological terrorism designed, in part, to get children to report on their parents.

We're told Katie would have none of it and it is one of the reasons she broke from the Church and ultimately Tom.

Katie Holmes : Getting Peanuts From Prenup

Katie Holmes will be getting virtually nothing from Tom Cruise by way of $$$$ because their prenup cuts her out of his fortune ... and sources connected with Katie tell us it's just fine with her.

We've learned the prenup Katie signed is long, tight and stacked in Tom's favor. We're told reports that she'll walk away with $15-20 million are absurd. Our sources say Katie will walk away with what she brought into the marriage ... and hardly anything else.

Our Katie sources tell us, "She's not about the money. She's not that girl. She loves to work."

We're told there's one thing Katie is insistent on -- she wants child support from Tom, and that could turn into a big ticket item.

As for whether Katie will challenge the prenup ... it's pretty common when a divorcing couple is in conflict, and our Katie sources are not ruling that out. But they insist, "Money is not that important to her. She makes plenty on her own."

One final point ... a well-placed source connected with the couple tells us, the prenup that basically gives Katie bupkis is proof the marriage is not a sham -- she didn't tie the knot for the loot.

Good for her its better to walk away with nothing from that crazy wacko and keep her daughter she is the winning either way. I hope its over quick and easy for her.

Just a thought :

I think Tom has to be very careful , he has already lost a lot of fans because he's a NUT CASE if he gets out of control here you might see him having to retire because no one will want to watch him in any movies. Plus I think Katie just might have something on him that she can use against him. Take him down Katie.

Katie Holmes : The Last Straw

The final straw in Katie Holmes' decision to file for divorce was that she was convinced Tom Cruise was going to send 6-year-old Suri away to a hardcore Scientology organization known as Sea Organization ... sources connected with Katie tell TMZ.

Sea Org, as it is known, is where the highest levels of Scientology are taught and kids as young as five can be sent to live there ... without their parents -- and our sources say Tom is a big fan.

Our sources say Katie and Tom had been arguing over Suri's indoctrination into Scientology -- and we're told the Sea Org was the flashpoint.

The Sea Org has been often compared to a boot camp and several ex-Scientologists (including Oscar winner Paul Haggis) have been outspoken against its military-like conditions. The Freewinds, the massive Scientology boat that was the location of Cruise's infamous birthday party in 2004, is entirely staffed by Sea Org members.

According to the official Scientology website, members of Sea Org sign "a one-billion-year pledge to symbolize their eternal commitment to the religion and it is still signed by all members today."

Katie herself has first-hand knowledge of the Sea Org. When Holmes and Cruise first hooked up in 2005, Jessica Feshbach, a prominent Scientologist who had been with the Sea Org since 1994, was transferred and became Katie's assistant/Scientology chaperone. Feshbach, in one of Katie's first interviews after getting together with Cruise, was described by a writer for W magazine as "cold-eyed" and "a third-wheel."

In the end ... we're told Katie felt the only way to save Suri from being shipped off to Sea Org was to file for divorce and seek sole legal custody.

Church of Scientology : We're Not Tailing Katie

The Church of Scientology has responded to TMZ’s story ... that Katie Holmes believes she is being followed by the Church -- they say it ain't so.

Gary Soter, lawyer for the Church, tells TMZ ... the Church of Scientology is not following Katie or conducting surveillance on her in the wake of her divorce with Tom Cruise.

As we previously reported, several vehicles Have been on Katie's tail in receny weeks,

but again the lawyer says the Church is not behind it.

[Claim] Katie Homles Believes She's Being Followed by Scientology Memers "WHF"

Kate Holmes believes Scientology now views her as a threat to the organization and has put a team on her tail ... sources close to the actress tell TMZ.

We're told Katie believes in recent weeks -- as the discord between her and Tom Cruise grew -- Scientology has been following her moves, especially in New York City.

This does not appear to be the mind of a paranoid person. People who have photographed Katie multiple times tell TMZ there have been several "mysterious" men and vehicles around Katie's apartment and following her when she's out.

Specifically ... a white Cadillac Escalade and black Mercedes SUV (see above) have been seen near Katie's NYC apartment for the past week.

FYI -- there is a publication that has put a tail on Katie, but the people doing that are separate from the people Katie believes have been dispatched from Scientology.

It is unclear if the two vehicles that have been constantly spotted near Holmes' pad are from Scientology or from the publication.

If Katie is able to keep the divorce in New York -- where courts generally like to award sole legal custody to one parent or the other when there is conflict -- proof that she's being tailed could help her case.

We put in a call to Scientology ... so far, no word back.

Katie Holmes : 'Scientology Was Her Breaking Point

Katie Holmes filed for divorce primarily over Tom Cruise's fierce ties to Scientology, fearing that Tom would drag Suri deep into the church ... sources connected with the couple tell TMZ.

Our sources say ... Katie has never been fully committed to Scientology, even though she has had ties with the church. We're told the couple had been arguing over Suri -- that she's now of the age where Scientology becomes a significant part of her life.

Sources familiar with the split tell us Katie is filing for sole legal custody -- as first reported -- specifically because she does not want Tom to control decisions relating to religion.

Sources have told us that the divorce is NOT about money -- we're told Katie doesn't need Tom's money ... because she has plenty of it ... and will be well taken care of under the terms of the prenup.
