Amy Winehouse's father Mitch met with members of Parliament today to lobby for more resources for young people struggling with drug and alcohol problems.
"This isn't about Amy , because we were in a fortunate position of being able to fund Amy to go into private rehap," explained Winehouse . "This is about people that can't afford it ."
Last year , the British government shut down the only National Health Service rehabilitation center for young people .
Winehouse met with politicians to fight for rehab options.
"Rather than money being wasted through the criminal justice system , there could be reallocations of funds ," he said .
"We need to be able to help our children ."
While rumors swirl about whether drugs directedly caused her death , Amy Winehouse's past struggles with abused was well documented .
Mitch Winehouse has already revealed his intentions to create a foundation in his daughter's name to help addicts who are unable to afford adequate treatment .
