Miley Cyrus: I Wanted to 'Make History' at the VMAs

So, what was she thinking?

In her first video interview since her notorious twerking routine at MTV's Video Music Awards on Aug. 25, Miley Cyrus says she wanted to do something people would talk about – not just for days but for years to come.

"Me and Robin [Thicke] the whole time said, 'You know we're about to make history right now,' " Cyrus, 20, says in a video clip recorded last week and obtained by MTV.

At the same time, Cyrus says she didn't spent a ton of time dwelling on the preparations.

"What's amazing is, I think, now, we're three days later and people are still talking about it. They're overthinking it," she says. "You're thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it. Like, I didn't even think about it, 'cause that's just me."

She also name-drops Madonna and Brithey Spears as examples of pop stars who shocked VMA viewers with their routines.

"I don't pay attention to the negative because I've seen this play out so many times. How many times have we seen this play out in pop music?" she says. "Madonna's done it. Britney's done it. Every VMA performance ... that's what you're looking for; you're wanting to make history."

  1. Her performance was disgusting. Nothing is 'Shocking' where the 'Hollywood' idiots are concerned. It all about her. We have to live with the ass nightmare that looked like a turkey butt running around our minds.

She would have had respect and gone much further and could have made a huge impact on the younger set and children if she respected herself. Truly she didn't in that performance.

Miley, from now on I have to 'Block' you from my children. You are fired!

People may be talking but you may not like what they are saying. At best, you have become the example of what not to do. Awkward, graceless, crude, lewd, a definite lack of dancing ability, and a foul looking tongue, there wasn't one moment of anything even remotely worth calling a performance.

A beginner at a local strip club would outdo anything you did.

    My humble opinion

  2. I totally agree with Humble,
Awkward , graceless and crude are perfect adjectives.

She ruined her image, her reputation and who knows what the repercussions to her millions of pubescent fans will be.

And what's with the crusty tongue?...Oral hygiene Miley!
