Katie Holmes filed for divorce primarily over Tom Cruise's fierce ties to Scientology, fearing that Tom would drag Suri deep into the church ... sources connected with the couple tell TMZ.
Our sources say ... Katie has never been fully committed to Scientology, even though she has had ties with the church. We're told the couple had been arguing over Suri -- that she's now of the age where Scientology becomes a significant part of her life.
Sources familiar with the split tell us Katie is filing for sole legal custody -- as first reported -- specifically because she does not want Tom to control decisions relating to religion.
Sources have told us that the divorce is NOT about money -- we're told Katie doesn't need Tom's money ... because she has plenty of it ... and will be well taken care of under the terms of the prenup.

Katie Holmes filed for divorce primarily over Tom Cruise's fierce ties to Scientology, fearing that Tom would drag Suri deep into the church ... sources connected with the couple tell TMZ.
11:05 AM PT -- Katie filed papers -- and Tom was "blindsided." Katie wants sole legal custody and "primary residential custody" of Suri.
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting DIVORCED ... after 5 years of marriage.
Katie's attorney, Jonathan Wolfe released a statement saying, "This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family."
Wolfe adds, "Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest."
TMZ has learned Katie filed the docs in NYC ... and wants SOLE custody of Suri.
We're told Tom and Katie have a prenup. The net worth of both Tom and Katie is around $275 mil, but clearly Tom raked in most of that.
For what it's worth, Katie did not attend any of the "Rock of Ages" premieres.
Tom and Katie have one child together, Suri, who is 6-years-old.
49-year-old Tom has 2 children from his previous marriage to Nicole Kidman. He was also married to actress Mimi Rogers from 1987 to 1990.
Cruise and 33-year-old Holmes were married in November 2006 in a lavish ceremony held at an Italian castle. The split was first reported by People.com.
Tom has been spotted in Iceland this week where he's been shooting a movie called "Oblivion."
Katie and Suri have been spotted in NYC all week. Katie was still wearing her wedding ring.
UPDATE # 1 -- Sources tell TMZ ... Scientology was a major factor in Katie's decision to pull the plug on the marriage.
UPDATE # 2 -- Tom and Katie were HOLDING Hands in Iceland just 2 weeks before Katie filed for divorce ... more proof Tom was truly "blindsided" by Katie's decision to end the marriage.
Katie Holmes had a VERY good reason for filing for divorce from Tom Cruise in New York ... because unlike California ... NY is a state that doesn't like giving waring parents joint power to make decisions for their kid.
As TMZ first reported, Katie filed the papers in New York ... and we know she's gunning for sole legal custody of 6-year-old Suri primarily because she doesn't want Tom to drag their daughter into the Church of Scientology.
Despite the fact Tom and Katie filed their marriage certificate in California, Katie went all the way to the East Coast to file the divorce docs because she knows she has a MUCH better chance of getting sole legal custody there ... New York family law judges typically don't like giving two parents who don't get along the power to make child-rearing decisions because they believe the kids will suffer from endless conflicts.
But ... our sources say Tom may mount a fight to bring the case to California ... which favors joint legal custody
Tom Cruise really had NO CLUE Katie Holmes planned to file for divorce -- at least judging by this photo, showing what appears to be a blissfully ignorant Tom clinging to his soon-to-be ex-wife ... just two weeks ago.
The photo was snapped on June 16th in a city called Reykjavik -- where Tom's been filming his new movie -- and by the looks of it, Tom wasn't suspecting a thing as far as divorce was concerned ... walking around hand-in-hand with Katie.
And Katie didn't let on either.
The pic is even more proof Tom was "blindsided" by the divorce papers.
TMZ broke the story ... Katie filed divorce docs against Tom in New York yesterday, citing "irreconcilable differences."
The primary difference ... Scientology .
Charlie Sheen can still draw a crowd.
The actor’s new FX show "Anger Management" put up huge numbers for its premiere on Thursday night, becoming the most-watched scripted comedy primetime series premiere in cable history.
Sheen’s first "Anger Management" episode was watched by a record 5.47 million total viewers, with that rising to 5.74 million total viewers for Episode 2, which immediately followed.
It was also FX’s most-watched premiere for any type of series.
Sheen is hoping the big audiences stay with the show as its initial 10-episode run continues: If it meets certain benchmarks, "Anger Management" will automatically be picked up for 90 more episodes.
That would guarantee its eventual syndication and untold millions of dollars for Sheen.
Not that he needs it.
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are divorcing after five years of marriage .
"This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family," Holmes' attorney Jonathan Wolfe told People. "Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest."
The couple, who married in November 2006 in a lavish Italian ceremony, are parents to daughter Suri, 6.
According to TMZ, Holmes is the one who files for divorce , citing "irreconcilable differences," and is asking for sole legal and primary residential custody of Suri. Their sources add that Cruise apparently did not see the divorce coming.
Cruise's rep issued a statement Friday afternoon (via Gossip Cop): "Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy."
Cruise and Holmes started dating in 2005 and were very public with their relationship.
They became engaged in Paris , and Cruise couldn't contain his excitement.
"Yes, I proposed to her. ... It was early this morning at the Eiffel Tower, so I haven't slept at all," Cruise told People at the time, adding, "Today is a magnificent day for me, I'm engaged to a magnificent woman.
Holmes was equally taken with Cruise and talked about him with W magazine in its August 2005 issue.
"I've found the man of my dreams," Holmes said. "From the moment I met him, it just felt like I'd known him forever. I was blown away. He's the most incredible man. He's so generous and kind, and he helps so many people, and, um, he makes me laugh like I've never laughed, and he's a great friend."
Cruise , who stars in "Rock of Ages," recently spoke about Holmes in Playboy,
saying: "She is an extraordinary person, and if you spent five minutes with her, you’d see it. Everything she does, she does with this beautiful creativity. She’s funny and charming, and when she walks into the room, I just feel better. I’m a romantic. I like doing things like creating romantic dinners, and she enjoys that."

Ann Curry's chair isn't even cold yet ... but "Today" producers have already lined up a new ass to fill it for tomorrow's show ... and it belongs to Savannah Guthrie -- the woman who will replace Curry.
NBC sources tell us, Savannah will be anchoring with Matt Lauer Friday ... and it's "likely" they will formally announce the big switch during the show.
We're told the reason it's likely is because Matt is on vacation all next week for the holiday -- and the network wants to announce his new co-host while he's still around ... to show a united front.
TMZ broke the story ... Ann would be getting the chop after Matt made it clear he didn't want to work with her anymore. The declining ratings at "Today" didn't help.
After Ann's emotional exit announcement on Thursday's show, sources say she was in no mood to talk ... and kept quiet by herself in the studio until it was time to leave.
During exit negotiations, Ann had previously demanded the remaining $20 million of her co-hosting contract -- but NBC didn't want to pay her that kinda cash. It's unclear what kind of payout Ann will get, but our sources say NBC offered $10 million.
Chuck -- an outspoken Republican political activist -- just penned an article for AmmoLand.com ... titled, "Is Obama Creating a Pro-Gay Boy Scouts of America?"
In the article, Norris attacks James Turley -- a high ranking BSA official who recently announced his plan to "seek a change" to a Boy Scouts policy that bans gay Scouts and gay Scout leaders.
72-year-old Norris suggests Turley is only championing the cause because he's trying to curry favor with Obama's "pro-gay" administration.
Norris talks about the Boy Scouts as epitomizing the best of America. The insinuation ... that gays don't.
So, we gotta ask ...
I'm more offended by his bad wig thasn I am gay people ....HeHe

Three years ago today, the world mourned the death of Farrah Fawcett ... for about 5 minutes ... until Michael Jackson died ... and overshadowed the loss of Charlie's most famous Angel.
But today, Farrah's baby daddy Ryan O'Neal honored her memory with a shirt featuring the TV icon ... who passed away after a long battle with anal cancer.
The image on the shirt is Farrah's most famous photo -- taken in 1976 -- and went on to become one of the best selling posters in history.
Farrah was 62 years old.
An emotional Randy Jackson commemorated the three year anniversary of the death of his younger brother Michael Jackson by visiting Forest Lawn cemetery in Los Angeles on Monday.
Randy paid his respects and also posed for pics with MJ fans -- including a King of Pop impersonator -- who had come to Michael's final resting place.
As we previously reported, a group of MJ fans raised roughly $30K to decorate Jackson's tomb with 10,000 roses to honor the fallen pop superstar.
Michael Jackson died on June 25th, 2009.
Monday, June 25, 2012
Today marks the 3-year anniversary of the death of Michael Jackson -- an event that had an impact across the globe.
Tons of lives have been changed since that fateful day ... Conrad Murray went to jail ... MJ's kids have moved in with their grandmother ... numerous doctors have been exposed for sucking up to celebrities and giving them pills they shouldn't have ... and Corey Feldman got another 15 minutes of fame.
Of course, the world mourned together during MJ's memorial service at the Staples Center in Los Angeles ... when his daughter Paris choked back tears and said how much she loved her father ... and when Jermaine performed his touching rendition of "Smile."
Michael was eventually laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, CA.
He was only 50-years-old.
Over 10,000 roses were sent to Michael Jackson's final resting place today -- marking his 3-year death anniversary -- all courtesy of some very devoted fans.
A MJ fan group based in L.A. tells TMZ ... they used social media sites to raise money from fans all over the world for the memorial project ... finally collecting over $30k.
All that green bought a lot of flowers ... over 10,000 roses were delivered to Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, CA today -- where the King of Pop was laid to rest in 2009 -- all to honor the late-singer on the anniversary of his death.
What's more -- we're told the roses will be put to good use and recycled after today ... over half will be sent to senior centers and other places where they can be used to make people happy.
Michael Jackson died June 25, 2009 ... he was 50 .
John Travolta is being sued yet again by a man who claims the actor sexually assaulted him.
Fabian Zanzi , a former worker on the Royal Caribbean cruise line, claims Travolta exposed himself to Zanzi and propositioned him for sex during a 2009 cruise.
Related -- Claim : John Travolta offered Masseur Sex Accuser $ 125,000 For Silence
In his lawsuit, Zanzi says the Pulp Fiction star ordered food and requested that the steward bring it to his room.
When inside, alleges Zanzi, Travolta asked for a neck massage, then dropped his robe and embraced the worker.
Zanzi goes on to allege that Travolta then told him he was "beautiful" and said, "Take me, I will take care of you, please."
Related - - Claim :
John Travolta Had Sex With "grease" Co-star Jeff Conway
The cruise worker says he resisted Travolta’s advances, and the actor offered him $12,000 in return for his silence about the incident.
Travolta’s camp is now slamming the man’s allegations, saying in a statement to Gossip Cop, "This is another ludicrous lawsuit with inane claims. It is obvious that Mr. Zanzi and his lawyers are looking for their 15 minutes of fame."
Full full statement below.
What do you think about the latest lawsuit against Travolta?
Statement From John Travolta’s Lawyer:
"This is another ludicrous lawsuit with inane claims. It is obvious that Mr. Zanzi and his lawyers are looking for their 15 minutes of fame.
The lawsuit’s ridiculous claims are completely contradicted by what Mr. Zanzi told his employer back in 2009 when he was being disciplined for his own violations of company policy. In his handwritten report three years ago, the only physical contact he claimed occurred was allegedly touching my client’s neck. The inappropriate conduct he alleges in his lawsuit is absent from his written report he submitted at the time. That glaring omission speaks volumes. Also calling his credibility into question is his dubious allegation that his employer supposedly restrained him in a room on the cruise ship for five days, yet after that supposedly occurred, Mr. Zanzi continued to work for Royal Caribbean for years, on multiple ships. Now, after waiting three years, and after getting paid to tell his story to the media, Mr. Zanzi has filed this absurd lawsuit.
We are confident that my client will prevail on the merits and that he will be completely vindicated in court."
Just a thought : Here's a big red flag (in additionto the many , mant others), lets' pretend for a minute that this actually did happen . Why in the world would you not go to the police if you feft that you were sexually assaulted ???
Poor John Travolta can't get a break this year . HeHe

Mel Gibson's on a roll ... a week after getting up close and personal with Maria Menounos -- the actor surfaced by the beach in L.A., planting a big smooch on an unidentified woman.
The photo was snapped yesterday outside a beach house in Santa Monica.
Mel's been on a tear in the lady department recently --sweeping Maria Menounos off her feet at her 34th birthday party last Sunday in Encino ... literally.
Mel was even spotted last month at a Victoria's Secret party in Beverly Hills -- chatting up a mystery blonde .
Who knows, maybe they're all just "Passion of the Christ" fans.
Hey Mel , you need to lose the weight pal .... Hahahaha and a giggles or two .
Sources close to Lindsay Lohan's Lifetime movie tell TMZ ... producers have been in hysterics these past few weeks over LiLo's latest hijinks, and we're left to wonder ... WHY?!?!?!
According to our sources, producers were particularly upset over her car accident on PCH. We're told the producers have five big concerns:
-- The company that insures the movie might bail
-- Her probation could be violated for lying to the cops
-- She could be prosecuted for lying to police
-- She could crash her car again
-- She's going to clubs where bad things happen
But here's the thing ... when has a Lifetime movie ever gotten this much press (besides the one where Jennifer Love Hewitt played a hooker )?
And don't they know ... nothing bad ever REALLY happens to Lindsay.
$10 says "Liz & Dick" is the most watched program in the network's history.
Amy Fisher made a fortune off shooting her ex-lover's wife in the face -- and now, "Long Island Lolita" Amy Fisher is putting that money to use ... buying a brand new pad in Florida for more than half a million dollars!
In case you forgot ... Fisher became infamous in 1992 -- when she was just 17 -- after shooting her lover's wife Mary Jo Buttafuoco in the head. Mary survived, but Amy pled guilty to first-degree aggravated assault and served 7 years in prison. Amy then wrote two tell-all books ... and eventually became a porn star.
Now, Amy Fisher -- who has since changed her name to Elizabeth Bellers -- has purchased a BRAND NEW HOME

Just because she's carrying an unborn baby inside her and not downing tequila shots doesn't mean anything has changed for Snooki ... as the pint-sized mother-to-be once again stumbled to the ground in Seaside Heights on Thursday.
Rockin' a pair of maternity platform sandals, the unmarried "Jersey Shore" star lost her footing and took a sober tumble on to the sidewalk yesterday. Luckily, she was uninjured, quickly got up and went on her non-alcoholic merry way.
Snooks isn't letting pregnancy stop her from getting on her knees .
Rodney King was an expert pot smoker ... and there's no way marijuana could have caused him to go off the hinges and act like a maniac on the night he died ... so say King's smoking buddies, who run his local weed dispensary.
Ever since investigators were pictured removing a cannabis plant from King's home this week, there have been suspicions that weed may have contributed to his death ... or at least caused Rodney to exhibit some bizarre behavior on the night he died ... including loud crying spells and banging on the windows of his home.
TMZ spoke with the people who run Arrow Alternative Remedies in San Bernardino, CA ... who tell us Rodney was a regular ... and even served as a celebrity "bud tender" during special events.
The pot people tell us ... "We used to smoke tons of weed with Rodney and not once was he too belligerent to function."
One pot pro also notes, "I never saw him come into the shop on alcohol or hard drugs."
"Honestly, he was a great guy and was starting to get back on track with his new book."
As TMZ first reported, Rodney died on Sunday ... but his legacy will live on in the pot shop -- where his old pals have already named a strain of weed after the guy ... "Rodney King OG."
Mary Cheney , former Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter, has married her partner

Cheney and Poe have two children together.
The former Vice President congratulated the couple in a statement: "Mary and Heather have been in a committed relationship for many years, and we are delighted that they were able to take advantage of the opportunity to have that relationship recognized."
He continued, "Mary and Heather and their children are very important and much loved members of our family and we wish them every happiness."
Congratulations to the couple.
First off ... there are 2 bands called One Direction. Second off ... the unfamous One Direction sued the famous One Direction for allegedly jacking the name. Third off ... now the famous One Direction is countersuing the unfamous One Direction, saying the famous band had the name first.
The famous band now claims it has achieved "global fame and success" and some local knock-off is now trying to ride its coattails. The unfamous One Direction begs to differ.
That's pretty much it.
Ann Curry will get her walking papers from the "Today" show next week, and NBC will pay dearly for its blunder -- because network sources tell us she's under a contract that guarantees her $10 million a year.
Our sources tell us Ann signed a new contract almost a year ago to the day, when she took over as co-anchor of "Today." Under the deal, Ann gets a cool $10 mil, and it's a long-term contract. We're told she's guaranteed that amount for 3 years.
Network sources tell us ... the likely scenario is that Ann will become a foreign correspondent for NBC News.
Short story ... she'll be the first foreign correspondent who will rake in an amount equal to the gross national product of some of the countries she will cover.

John Travolta is being sued by an author who claims Travolta spread lies about his mental health in order to diminish his credibility ... while the author was trying to sell a book in which he claimed he personally witnessed Travolta engaged in gay sex at various bathhouses.
The man behind the lawsuit is Robert Randolph -- who wrote a book entitled, "You'll Never Spa in This Town Again" ... detailing Travolta's alleged sexual exploits with other men, including Randolph.
In his suit, Randolph claims ... as he was releasing his book, Travolta and his high-powered attorney Marty Singer (pictured above) unleashed a P.R. attack ... in which they falsely claimed Randolph had mental issues and spent time in a mental institution.
Randolph claims the attack was concocted to persuade the public that he's an unreliable source ... and they should NOT buy his book. Randolph claims Travolta's plan worked ... and retailers were deterred from selling his book.
Randolph is suing both Travolta and Singer for unspecified damages.
So far, no comment from Travolta. Ditto for Singer.
After months of speculation,Johnny Depp finally confirmed that he and longtime partner Vanessa Paradis had separated, and according to RadarOnline the reason for their split is absolutely heartbreaking.
The website reports that Depp had become "bored senseless" with his 14-year relationship which produced two children, and had been wanting to end the relationship since last year
"Johnny didn't want to be with Vanessa anymore. They had grown so far apart, and he wanted to be free and try new things," a source told RadarOnline. "He was bored senseless with her, being with Vanessa was making him miserable."
According to the source, the notoriously quirky and adventurous actor felt the spark between the two of them was gone, and Depp just "wants more from life and believes Vanessa deserves to be happier too."
The actor's rep confirmed to "Entertainment Tonight" on Tuesday that the couple had "amicably separated," and Radar's source confirms there were no other parties involved in the decision.
"[Depp] is not embroiled in some hot and heavy new romance and he has no plans to jump straight into something straight away, but he is keen to have some fun again," admitted the source, who added that Depp is so relieved they've made the separation public, as "it was difficult for him to carry on a farce."
Breakup rumors started making the rounds this spring, and when Depp arrived at the London premiere of "Dark Shadows" solo, the 49-year-old actor was still denying his relationship was on the rocks.
"The rumors are not true. They are absolutely not true,"Depp said in a red carpet interview according to the U.K.s "The Sun." No matter what I say about this, people believe the opposite ... I can’t say enough about it not being over."
A source close to the couple also revealed in May that Depp and Paradis were trying to keep their relationship together , telling E! Online , "For the first time in a long time, he is talking about her ... They both want to make it work."
The pair met in the late '90s and Paradis told "People" magazine in 2008 that it wasn't exactly love at first sight:
"We were in two different worlds – him in America, me in France – but we had friends in common," the French singer, model and actress explained. "We saw each other sometimes over the course of four years. But then, the day we found each other in Paris, we were both in the same world and free and it was just instant. There was no more time to waste – just no way around it."
TMZ broke the story ... Murray believed he was going to die in L.A. County Jail ... claiming he's being treated like filth -- getting fresh air once a month, and fresh underwear once a WEEK.
But after lodging his complaints, we're told Murray saw immediate results. In fact, Connie told his lawyers a swarm of deputies came into his cell Monday morning ... and couldn't have been more accommodating.
Besides the clean clothes, Murray got a new blanket ... and was taken to the roof so he could get some fresh air.
A rep for the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. tells us Murray is receiving the appropriate level of care for the headache he was complaining about. The rep also claims Murray was evaluated by a doctor last week.
Murray's attorneys acknowledge things are better, but "still characterize his living conditions as horrendous." Meanwhile, Connie couldn't be happier -- sources close to the doc tell us, "His spirits are much improved."
Radiohead has postponed part of its European tour after a stage in Toronto collapsed on Saturday, killing the band’s drum technician, Scott Johnson, and injuring three other crew members.
The band said in a statement on Thursday that the postponing of several concerts in Italy, Germany, and Switzerland is due to its "dealing with the grief and shock ensuing from this terrible accident," as well as "practical considerations," including the damage done to its light show, which was "decades old and therefore hard to replace."
The group says it plans to resume its shows in Nimes, France on July 10
Meg Ryan has just unloaded her spectacular Bel Air mansion for a huge price ... TMZ has learned.
Real estate sources tell TMZ ... Meg raked in $11,125,000 in the sale -- close to the $11,400,000 asking price.
Meg bought the 6,877 square foot mansion in 2000 in the middle of her divorce from Dennis Quaid. Her neighbors include Jennifer Aniston, Michael Bay, Berry Gordy and Darren Star.
The best news for Meg ... she made a killing. Ryan bought the estate for the very reasonable price of $8.6 million.
As for the lucky buyer -- he's Adam Bernhard, who just sold his clothing company for $270 million, so $11 mil is like a condo in the Valley.
Adam was represented by the Zelig of realtors, celebrity realtor Kurt Rappaport.

NBC is reportedly planning to replace Ann Curry just one year after she became co-host on the "Today Show."
Curry and the network are already discussing an exit and possible new roles for her, according to a report in The New York Times late on Wednesday.
It should be noted that NOTHING has been finalized.
Last spring, Curry, then the show’s news reader, took departing co-host Meredith Vieira’s spot next to Matt Lauer .
Lauer himself just recently signed a multi-year deal to stay with the "Today Show."
Should Curry depart, it’s not known who would replace her, although colleague Savannah Guthrie’s name is mentioned as a possibility in the Times report.
Gossip Cop has reached out to a rep for the "Today Show" for comment

Alicia Etheredge and Bobby Brown, and their wedding party
Courtesy Bobby Brown Jr...
Less than 24 hours after his performing a New Edition concert in Honolulu, Bobby Brown and fiancée Alicia Etheredge tied the knot Monday, a source confirms to PEOPLE.
The R&B star, 43, was surrounded by family and friends, including his older kids Landon, 23, La'Princia, 22, and Bobby Jr., 19, as well as Brown and Etheredge's only child together, Cassius, 3.
The groom wore a red suit and Adidas sneakers that matched those of Cassius, who served as ring bearer. Four young flower girls were in attendance. Bobby Jr. posted a photo of the wedding party on Instagram.
The couple became engaged in a very public way in 2010, when Brown popped the popped the question to Etheredge during a sold-out New Edition show in Jacksonville, Fla. Brown credited Etheredge with giving him a new lease on life following his 2007 divorce from Whitney Houston, who died in February .
"I got my passion back for music and for loving myself because of her," Brown told PEOPE in 2011 of Etheredge, who is also his manager.
One person noticeably absent from the celebration? Bobbi Kristina Brown, 19, the groom's daughter with Whitney Houston. Kristina and Brown are not on good terms right now, according to a source.
As for a honeymoon, it appears to be a work trip: Brown and Etheridge will continue traveling with the New Edition tour, which starts up again June 23 in Oakland, Calif.
Bobby Brown is a married man once again! The singer wed fiancee Alicia Etheridge in Hawaii on June 18, People reports.
According to a source, Brown and Etheridge tied the knot in front of loved ones in Honolulu, and Brown's son, Bobby Jr., posted a photo of the newlyweds and their wedding party on Instagram.
Brown, who was previously married to the late singer Whitney Houston, and Etheridge have one son together, Cassius, who was born in May 2009. The couple became engaged in May 2010 when Brown proposed onstage during a show in Florida .
In addition to Bobby Jr., 19, and Cassius, 3, Brown's older children, Landon, 23, and La'Princia, 22, were also in attendance for the nuptials.
However, Brown's daughter with Houston, Bobbi Kristina Brown, did not attend the wedding. The two are reportedly not on good terms with each other and, according to Page Six, Bobbi Kristina chose to stay in New York to film scenes from his upcoming reality show rather than jet to Hawaii for her father's wedding.

But sources close to King tell TMZ they heard Kelley tell the story several times to friends ... only the story changed a little bit each time and it seemed to them that she was lying about something. The coroner has completed the autopsy on the body of Rodney King ... but will not announce an official cause of death until additional toxicology tests and tissue studies have been performed.
The results usually take between 4 to 6 weeks.
A rep for the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department tells us, "There will be no final ruling as to the cause and manner of death until the requested test results have been received and reviewed in context with the autopsy findings."
TMZ broke the story ... King's fiancee discovered his body at the bottom of the pool at the couple's home in Rialto, CA on Sunday morning.
King's fiancee insists Rodney had been drinking and smoking pot in the hours before his death -- and believes his death was accidental. However, people close to Rodney are concerned she's not telling the whole story.
Two close friends of Rodney King think his fiancée isn't telling the truth about what happened leading up to his death ... and they've voiced their suspicions to cops, TMZ has learned.
As TMZ first reported, King's fiancee, Cynthia Kelley, says she was awakened by the sound of King banging on the window of their home just after 5:00 AM on Sunday ... and then heard him fall in the pool.
We're told two of Kelley's friends who spoke with her in the hours following King's death have gone to police and spoke to a detective. Our source says the detective took down their story and their information and said he would be in touch.

Ronan Farrow , the son of Woody Allen and Mia Farrow , observed Father’s Day by SLAMMING his estranged dad for leaving his mom for her adopted daughter Soon-Yi Previn back in 1992.
The 24-year-old Rhodes Scholar and human rights lawyer tweeted, "Happy father’s day — or as they call it in my family, happy brother-in-law’s day."
Ronan became estranged from Allen after discovering his dad’s affair with Soon-Yi, which he called a "moral transgression."
Farrow adopted Soon-Yi with her second husband Andr`e Previn .
What do you think of Ronan’s Father’s Day tweet
had an awkward Father's Day ... because his estranged son roasted him on the Internet by reminding the world ... Woody's current wife USED TO BE his step-daughter.
Ronan Farrow -- the 24-year-old son of Allen and Mia Farrow -- went to Twitter and posted the following message:
Happy father's day -- or as they call it in my family, happy brother-in-law's day.
— Ronan Farrow (@RonanFarrow) June 17, 2012.
Mia retweeted the message ... and added the word, "BOOM."
According to reports, Ronan stopped speaking to his father back in 1992 ... when it was discovered Woody had been dating Soon-Yi Previn -- Mia Farrow's adopted daughter with her 2nd husband André Previn.
Woody began dating Mia in 1980 ... when Soon-Yi was 10 years old.
Just a thought : It's been 20 years , and Ronan was a young child when this happen .
Ronan if it's possible you need to move on ... ( I'm definitely not defending Woody , but to hold onto this much of grief for so long isn't healthy ).

NEW ORLEANS — A federal jury late Thursday rejected claims that Kevin Costner and his business partner duped fellow actor Stephen Baldwin and a friend out of millions of dollars from a BP contract for using oil cleanup devices in the aftermath of the 2010 Gulf of Mexico spill.
The panel deliberated for less than two hours before delivering the verdict in the lawsuit brought by Baldwin and his friend, Spyridon Contogouris Their lawyer had asked the eight-member jury to award the plaintiffs more than $17 million in damages.
The jury gave them nothing.
Costner, who smiled and shook his attorney's hand after the verdict, said he was grateful for the opportunity to clear his name.
"My name means more to me than money and that's why we didn't settle," he said shortly after the verdict.
Costner also praised the jury for "doing their best to understand everything" in a complex case.
"They were really smart, and it was my good luck that they saw the truth of the story," he said.
Contogouris and Baldwin sold their shares in Ocean Therapy Solutions for $1.4 million and $500,000, respectively. Baldwin testified he would have held out for much more if he had known BP had committed to ordering 32 oil-separating centrifuges.
They were trying to collect $17 million in damages because they estimate it's how much they would have received if they hadn't sold their shares in the company that marketed the centrifuges to BP before the oil giant made an $18 million deposit on a $52 million order.
Attorneys for Costner and Smith said Baldwin and Contogouris knew that BP was preparing to order the centrifuges when they sold their shares and walked away from the company rather than gamble for a more lucrative payout if BP signed a binding contract. At the time they sold their shares, BP only had signed a non-binding letter of intent, the defendants' attorneys said.
Baldwin referred questions about the verdict to his attorney, James Cobb.
"We're disappointed. We thought we proved rather convincingly that these two guys, Mr. Costner and Mr. Smith, defrauded us," Cobb said. "The jury saw it a different way but we respect the jury's verdict."
Cobb also questioned whether celebrity was a factor in the outcome "because I believe we proved our case and because the bigger celebrity won."
Earlier Thursday, during the trial's closing arguments, Cobb told jurors they probably see the case as a "bunch of rich people fighting over money I'll never, ever see." Cobb, however, said his clients deserved to be compensated for being lied to by Costner and business partner Patrick Smith and defrauded out of their fair share of the BP money.
"I had no idea the spider's web of deception could be so pervasive and so hard to unravel," Cobb said.
Costner's attorney Wayne Lee argued his client's fame is the only reason he was sued. The plaintiffs were mistaken when they thought Costner would "roll over and give in" under the threat of a lawsuit, Lee said.
"This lawsuit never should have been brought," Lee said. "Mr. Costner never should have been a party to these proceedings."
Cobb said a series of text messages and emails show that Smith and Costner knew the BP deal was done before Baldwin and Contogouris sold their shares.
Jurors heard eight days of testimony before they began deliberating. Costner and Baldwin were ordered by U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman to attend each day of the trial, which they heeded. The judge thanked them at the end of the trial.
"I know that being here throughout the trial has been a great challenge for them," Feldman said.
Costner testified that he never saw Baldwin contribute anything to their company's efforts to persuade BP to use the centrifuges. Baldwin testified that no one asked him to invest any capital or lobby BP but said he used his celebrity to market and promote the centrifuges while he also worked on a documentary about the nation's worst offshore oil spill.
Costner had lost $20 million in an earlier effort to market the devices to the oil and gas industry, but Cobb said Costner and Smith each made $15 million off their investments in Ocean Therapy Solutions after the BP spill.
Jurors heard testimony that John Houghtaling, the company's CEO, had begged Baldwin and Contogouris not to sell their shares and promised them that a deal with BP was imminent.
"They didn't want to take a risk," Lee said. "(Contogouris) is the one who brought up the idea of selling. He set the price."
On Wednesday, a BP contractor testified that Baldwin had threatened to feed personal information about Costner to The New York Times if the two actors couldn't resolve their business dispute. Scott Smith, CEO of a company that sold about $1 million worth of oil-absorbing foam to BP after the spill, said he doesn't know if Baldwin followed through on the threat.
Cobb dismissed Smith's testimony as a diversionary tactic.
"They bring that to you, folks, because they've got nothing else," he said. "They don't have a legitimate defense, so let's throw some mud on the plaintiffs."
BP deployed a few of the centrifuges on a barge in June 2010. The company capped the well the following month, and it was permanently sealed in September 2010.
Kevin Costner doesn't owe Stephen Baldwin squat after Baldwin sued him for allegedly duping him into prematurely selling shares of a company that scored a $52 million contract after the BP oil spill.
Moments ago, the jury rejected claims that Costner deceived Baldwin into selling shares of his stock in a company that made a financial killing by selling oil cleanup equipment in the wake of the BP spill.
It didn't take long for the jury to decide -- a verdict was reached in less than 2 hours of deliberation.
Baldwin and another plaintiff had collectively sought $17 million in damages.
Baldwin had previously argued that he sold his shares for a measly $500k ... but he would have made MILLIONS if he would have held on until after the BP deal.

The race to the White House is in full swing, but it's not happening where you think it is. It's playing out in Hollywood -- and in Shreveport -- as dueling inside-the-beltway action films, both described as "'Die Hard' in the White House," are ramping up production.
Actor Gerard Butler, shown at December's Golden Globes annoucement, is headed to Shreveport to shoot 'White House Taken' (aka 'Olympus Has Fallen'), one of two upcoming action films set at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Columbia Pictures' "White House Down" is shaping up to be the bigger of the two. Roland Emmerich ("The Day After Tomorrow," "2012") is lined up to direct, and Channing Tatum and Maggie Gyllenhaal are penciled in to star as Secret Service agents who must defend the president when a paramilitary force overtakes 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Rumored to be considering the role of the president in "White House Down":Jamie Foxx, who is in New Orleans shooting Quentin Tarantino's "Django Uuchained ."
Emmerich's film is set for release on Nov. 1, 2013.
Meanwhile, and closer to home, Nu Image/Millennium will start 50 days of production on "White House Taken" -- which is also known as "Olympus Has Fallen" -- in early July in the Shreveport and Bossier City areas, where the production house runs its own studio facility. (Resumes for prospective crew can be sent to resumes to (email@example.com) .
Antoine Fuqua will reportedly direct that one, with Gerald Bulter starring as a Secret Service agent who is the government's last hope when terrorists invade the White House. No release date has been announced.
The film will mark Butler's second recent trip to Shreveport; the actor shot the forthcoming rom-com "Playing the Field" there in spring 2011.
Cameras have yet to roll on either film, but a poster for "White House Taken" cropped up along the Croisette at last month's Cannes Film Festival, as Millennium is apparently wasting no time in trying to sell the project to potential distribution houses.
The upcoming Milenninum Films' production "White House" is already pumping hundreds of thousands of dollars into the local economy , area businessmen and film officials say .
The action thriller starring Gerald Butler is set to film at Multiple Shreveport and Bossier City locations this summer , one of which will feature a partial facade of the White House .
This is a huge economic boost for Shreveport and Bossier City . 'White Taken' will be directed by Antoine Fuqua and dipicts a former secret service agent (Butler) as he works to prevent a terrorist attack on the White House .
So now we know why Maria Shriver paid a visit to a psychic yesterday -- she was drawn to the energy stones in the window.
An employee at the supernatural establishment tells us, Maria wanted info on 4 or 5 energy crystals, including amethyst and cactus quartz.
Amethyst is supposedly used for calming, and cactus quartz for communication. Both stones bring positive energy into your life -- ALLEGEDLY.
Maria also jawboned with the psychic in a back room, where the two discussed personal "life stuff."
All told, Maria -- whom the employee described as a "spiritual" person -- was inside the shop for less than 30 minutes ... and left without buying anything.
-- a highly educated, former First Lady of California, devout Catholic, and well-connected woman about town -- is searching for answers to life ... in energy crystals.
We got this pic of Maria leaving a psychic's office yesterday in the very upscale community of Brentwood. We're told she's a customer -- been there before.
Maria has some big decisions -- she's gone back and forth on whether to finalize her divorce from Arnold Schwarzenegger, so maybe Dorothy from Clairvoyance -- a spiritual advisor, psychic medium and life coach -- can help her decide.

Richard Belzer gave the Nazi salute during a photo call at the Monte Carlo Television Festival in Monaco on Tuesday — a jarring visual that TMZ immediately posted.
To drive home the point, he also placed two fingers on his upper lip to mimic Adolf Hilter’s mustache.
But Gossip Cop is told there was actually some context for the outwardly questionable gesture.
A rep for Belzer tells us the comedian (who is Jewish) was responding to a reporter who had asked about Charlie Chaplin.Chaplin and The Great Dictator, Chaplin’s classic takedown of Hitler.
The rep says it was obvious to people there that Belzer was doing it for laughs, and that it’s "ludicrous and insulting" for anyone to interpret the gesture as a serious nod to Nazism.
It’s worth pointing out that Belzer made a series of other obviously farcical "poses" during the appearance, as seen below.
Tell us what you think of Belzer’s salute in the comments section.
The salute, we’re told, was meant as a comedic riff on Chapman's takedown on Hitler .
2:24 PM PDT -- Belzer has issued a statement to TMZ ... saying, "My grandfather represented Israel in the UN before it was made a nation. I'm a Jewish comedian, and there's this new thing out, it's called satire, irony and historical reference."
He adds, "To say that a Jew can't do that gesture as homage to Chaplin's masterpiece, 'The Great Dictator' is like Muslim extremists killing a cartoonist for disparaging Mohammed in his art."
2:32 PM PDT -- A rep for Belzer tells TMZ ... Richard was involved in a conversation with a reporter about the Charlie Chaplin movie, "The Great Dictator" ... when Richard decided to re-enact a scene from the movie when Charlie's character gave a mock Nazi salute.
The rep says Belzer is a "Jewish comedian" and is upset and insulted that anyone would assume he would deliver the Nazi salute in a "negative" way.
"Law & Order" star Richard Belzer threw up the Nazi salute on the red carpet at a TV festival in Monte Carlo earlier today ... because he's an idiot.
67-year-old Belzer -- who reportedly grew up in a Jewish family -- also stuck two fingers on his upper lip, in what appears to be an attempt to simulate the infamous Hitler mustache.
Belzer also bent over and stuck his ass out at the paparazzi ... for some unknown reason.
It's not the first time Belzer has thrown the Nazi salute in public -- he pulled the "Heil Hitler" schtick during an appearance on Hannity back in 2009 .
