After months of speculation,Johnny Depp finally confirmed that he and longtime partner Vanessa Paradis had separated, and according to RadarOnline the reason for their split is absolutely heartbreaking.
The website reports that Depp had become "bored senseless" with his 14-year relationship which produced two children, and had been wanting to end the relationship since last year
"Johnny didn't want to be with Vanessa anymore. They had grown so far apart, and he wanted to be free and try new things," a source told RadarOnline. "He was bored senseless with her, being with Vanessa was making him miserable."
According to the source, the notoriously quirky and adventurous actor felt the spark between the two of them was gone, and Depp just "wants more from life and believes Vanessa deserves to be happier too."
The actor's rep confirmed to "Entertainment Tonight" on Tuesday that the couple had "amicably separated," and Radar's source confirms there were no other parties involved in the decision.
"[Depp] is not embroiled in some hot and heavy new romance and he has no plans to jump straight into something straight away, but he is keen to have some fun again," admitted the source, who added that Depp is so relieved they've made the separation public, as "it was difficult for him to carry on a farce."
Breakup rumors started making the rounds this spring, and when Depp arrived at the London premiere of "Dark Shadows" solo, the 49-year-old actor was still denying his relationship was on the rocks.
"The rumors are not true. They are absolutely not true,"Depp said in a red carpet interview according to the U.K.s "The Sun." No matter what I say about this, people believe the opposite ... I can’t say enough about it not being over."
A source close to the couple also revealed in May that Depp and Paradis were trying to keep their relationship together , telling E! Online , "For the first time in a long time, he is talking about her ... They both want to make it work."
The pair met in the late '90s and Paradis told "People" magazine in 2008 that it wasn't exactly love at first sight:
"We were in two different worlds – him in America, me in France – but we had friends in common," the French singer, model and actress explained. "We saw each other sometimes over the course of four years. But then, the day we found each other in Paris, we were both in the same world and free and it was just instant. There was no more time to waste – just no way around it."
