The film focuses on the period when the famed moviemaker risked his reputation and fortune on Psycho.
It features Helen Mirren as Hitchock’s wife Alma, and Scarlett Johansson as Psycho star Janet Leigh.
Fox Searchlight surprised many Oscar watchers when it announced that Sacha Gervasi's "Hitchcock" would debut right in the middle of awards season. Out Nov. 23, the film -- which chronicles director Alfred Hitchcock relationship with his wife, Alma Reville, during the production of "Psycho" -- is still cloaked in mystery: It's one of the few Oscar contenders without a trailer or fancy festival premiere date .
In an effort to kickstart the campaign, however, Fox Searchlight has released some new stills from the film, showcasing Anthony Hopkins (as Hitchcock), Helen Mirren (as Reville) and Scarlett Johansson as "Psycho" star Janet Leigh.
It's expected Hopkins will compete for Best Actor against Joaquin Phoenix ("The Master"), Daniel Day-Lewis ("Lincoln"), John Hawkes ("The Sessions") and perhaps Denzel Washington ("Flight").
"Hitchcock" is out on Nov. 23.
