Gloria Vanderbilt visited her son today , and the two discuss the horrifying day when her son ( Anderson's brother) Carter commited suicide at age 23.
Vanderbilt actually saw Carter jump from the family's balcony and tells Anderson , "There was a moment when I thought I was going to jump after him , but then I thought of you ... and it stopped me from doing that."
It's (obviously) emotional and an exterordinarily personal moment not typically seen on daytime TV.
Anderson Cooper talks about growing up with a famous fashion designer mom.
