GUNNAR HANSEN LEATHERFACE IN 'TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE' ... DIES AT 68

Gunnar Hansen, who played one of the scariest, most iconic mass murderers ever, is dead.
Hansen made a career out of his role as Leatherface in "Texas Chainsaw Massacre."  Although the movie was released in 1974, when he was a young man, Hansen proudly revived the role in various forms over the years.  He played "The Master" in the 1988 "Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers" and the captain in the 2009 "Reykjavik What Watching Massacre."
Hansen took the role of the murderous Leatherface right out of grad school.  He did many other things in entertainment -- he appeared in 28 fils and wrote screenplays, books and documentaries.
Hansen died of pancreatic cancer.  He was 68.
RIP

  1. Hi just saw this post on Gunnar Hansen. He was a wonderful man. I knew him personally. My husband and I met him many years ago at a convention and we became friends. My husband Rick, is an horror fan. He has many "Chainsaw" memorabilia and posters with signatures of the whole cast. One year we even flew to Texas to see where the film was made. Have been in Gunnar's company many times, even though he was so big and tall (over 6 ft) he was a big teddy bear. He was not only a talented actor but he also wrote some books. This is such a sad day and I am glad to see that other people have loved him so..his work lives on...Thanks Dottie :)
