Christian Bale released a statement in response to Friday’s mass shooting at a Colorado theater showing the film in which he stars, The Dark Knight Rises.
On Saturday, the actor said, "Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them."
His reaction is the latest in a wave of reactions to the tragedy , which claimed 12 lives and left dozens more injured.
Late Friday, Bale’s director, Christopher Nolan, expressed his own grief and pain, calling the attack "unbearably savage."
