Lexus Pulls Ads From Radio Station Behind Prank

Lexus Australia has axed all of their advertising from 2DAYFM ... the radio station that allowed two DJs to prank call Kate Middleton's hospital ... TMZ has learned.

TMZ spoke to a rep for Lexus AU ... who tells us the company has officially pulled the plug on their media campaign due to "the current situation" -- specifically the suspected suicide of the nurse who answered the call.

We're told this isn't the first time Lexus AU has pulled ads from 2DAYFM. The car company pulled ads from the station last year as well following an incident with a different announcer.

This recent ad campaign (which began November 1) was the company's first with the station since then.

Just wondering :
What no one in the media wants to deal with, is the fact that this case started as a violation of doctor/patient confidentiality...and the laws that govern those protections for all of us, not just the royals. The DJs pulled this prank, obviously with the approval and knowledge of upper management, for afterward...the stations' legal team vetted the call and said that illegally obtained recording was appropiate content for airing, knowing that the medical privacy violation had occured. The DJs were acting as imposters in order to falsely obtain information, and illegally broadcasted the voices of the nurses whom did not give their personal consent for their voices, or the conversation therein, to be aired. Now, whether you are a reporter, or a DJ, you do not have the right to violate the law in order to get a story--the reporter shield laws do not protect the media for taking such actions. This was a conspiracy before, or after the fact, by the radio station upper management and its lower-level employees to violate the civil rights of others, and now someome is dead as a result. This nurse had every reason to believe that her reputation had been damaged beyond repair, and that her career future would not be good due to this incident, no matter the many and repeated assurances by hospital management and staff. Her anxiety, born from this, obviously led to her suicide--if it is that, because this story could take on a more ominous slant. What if the nurse was murdered by someone...as a result of this prank, perhaps a fan of the royal family--or a flag waving British patriot, who felt that she was responsible in-part, for embarrassing the royal family, and thus Britain...as a whole? Either way, this incident started with these DJs and their bosses, and that is where the bulk of the blame begins and ends--for they knew that they were violating the law, again, patient/doctor confidentiality--as well, they had reason to believe that the careers of hospital staff, and others, could be negatively impacted by their disclosure of sensitive medical and personal information of the patient...from the nurses--to those (the DJs) whom they had reason to believe were the Queen and Prince Charles. Now, you can't blame the breach on the hospital, as they were doing their best, this is partially on MI5, MI6, and Scotland Yard for not helping the hospital staff to better screen calls--as they are not law enforcement and security experts. Still, the DJs and their bosses originated this mess, and they should be made to pay for it. The company should be shut-down...and the CEO, the executive board, as well as their legal team, should be brought to trial, as criminal defendants.

It is a high-pressured job, nursing--perhaps one of the worst there is. Working with the ill and diseased isn't easy, in fact, most male ER doctors have nervous breakdowns...and are forced to retire from the ER in 5 years, and most female doctors, being able to handle stress better due to the female physical make-up, last for up to 10 years before having nervous breakdowns themselves--and thus see themselves being forced to move on for the sake of their own good mental and physical health. Well, since those are the stats for doctors, then what must they be for nurses??? My own aunt had to retire early from medicine as a nurse...due to high-stress, caused by tons of work, with little, or no reward, nor thanks--and poor pay. So, dealing with life and death everyday, weighs on people, and if you are unfairly made the target of unscrupulous individuals who have entered your life unexpectantly...and disrupted your career profession and personal life--while you are under such great stress--it just complicates matters to the boiling-point of pushing you across the brink. You are a time-bomb ready to crack, and that can happen to anyone in such a job, or a similar job, from a police officer, to a fireman, to soldier, to a doctor, or a nurse. BTW, for those who don't know, nurses are directly responsible for the bulk of your medical care, not the doctors--and more often than not, they keep you alive in the hospital by observing, and pointing-out, unseen and unnoticed issues with the patients. As well, it is they who often catch doctors' medical mistakes...and hence, protect you...the patient before you get the wrong medicine, or the wrong amounts of medicine, or other troubling issues, such as the wrong diagnosis. Nurses are really Angels/humanitarians in the guise of human beings--as well as most health professionals who are on the front-lines of health care, and they deserve better understanding, and better treatment from all. This woman was a victim of cowards who played with her life, in order to enrich themselves and gain fame. Most media people are in denial about this, because if they admit wrong-doing of some of their own industry peers, then they have to question their own tactics and methods, and they don't want to hear the truth. You may not listen to me, but you have  to answer  someday, and you can't escape the Grim Reaper in your attempts to escape answering for your wrong-doing -- nor can you take your money with you. If these two DJs, their corporate bosses, and their legal team...weren't engaged in a conspiracy to violate the law--from the violation of patient/doctor confidentiality, to illegally taping others, this tragedy wouldn't have happened in the first-place. This was a series of crimes, and should be criminally prosecuted in a court of law.

  1. I am glad Lexus pulled the plug. They are a huge sponsor. And those two deserve to be taken off the air and kicked right out of the business. They showed no respect for the privacy of patients and citizens, be they royal or not.
And they showed no concern over what the consequences might be to others.
That is not journalism. In fact, I believe they can and should be charged. Journalism seems to have lost it's integrity, like so many other professions. One can see that the ripples of a single act can have far reaching results....the loss of a life.

You put a lot of passion into the post, PIC. I hope it does some good

  2. Thankyou PIC ...
I was very upset about wht the DJs did ,,, not because Kate is married to a prince ,Kate is like the rest of us and needs her space.
Pregnant women go through this every day and should be left to puke in peace .

You are so right , what they and others are doing is not journalism , they make you want to kick them in their asses .

I am not a reporter or DJ ... I am just a blogger than will continue to let my feeling know .
