Rick Springfield was arrested in Los Angeles on Friday on a bench warrant issued after the musician-actor failed to show up in court last month for a mandated appearance related to his 2011 DUI case.In February, the "Jessie’s Girl" rocker was supposed to pay fines and show the court proof that he had completed an alcohol education program as part of his plea deal.
Springfield was originally arrested for drunk driving in May 2011 and officially charged with two counts of DUI the following July.
When he failed to make his court appearance, a bench warrant was issued for Springfield’s arrest.
He was briefly taken into custody on Friday, until Springfield’s lawyer had the warrant recalled and he was released.
Springfield posted a picture of the sheriff station and an update about the situation on his official Facebook page:
My home away from home. Lost hills sheriff station. Arrested this am on a bench warrant. I didn’t know that I was supposed appear in court a few weeks ago. It was to do with the old DUI charge and it’s been cleared up and i am free to go. Thought I might miss the gig tonite but I will be there and we will celebrate together. Life is not boring.
