Madonna , whose latest directorial effort , W.E. has recieved mixed reviews , was booed before the film was even screened on Sunday at the 55th London Film Festival .
Fans of Madonna , who had waited for hours in London's Leicester Square to see the superstar , booed her after she only spent a brief time doing interviews on the red carpet and greeting fans.
Madonna told Sky News amidst jeers "I do know what it's like to be misunderstood on a global scale ," compparing herself to the subject of the film , Wallis Simpson , the American divorcee whom King Eward VII shocking abdicated the throne to marry Simpson "didn't have the chance to defend herself so I'm taking that opportunity now ."
Maddona put in an appearence and signed some autographs . Be happy with that . No one told them to stand there for hours .
Get a life ... but hey that's just me .
