NBC has pulled next week’s episode of "Hannibal" over concerns that the content — involving children killing other kids — would be insensitive in light of the recent spate of high-profile violence in America.
The episode in question revolved around a "string of family murders" determined to have been conducted by "each of the families’ missing children, who were abducted and brainwashed" by a character played by Molly Shannon.
NBC has elected to skip over the particularly grisly storyline (the new show’s fourth episode), which was scheduled to air in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings and the subsequent manhunt for the perpetrators.
Series creator Bryan Fuller is said to have asked the network to make the change.
A rep for NBC confirms that "Hannibal" will end its season a week earlier than expected after the shelving of the episode.
As Gossip Cop reported, the film American Hustle has temporarily shut down production amid the Boston manhunt.
