Martin Short's Wife of Thirty Years Dies of Cancer

Nancy Dolman, the Toronto-born wife of comedian Martin Short, has died. She was 58. Dolman, who had been diagnosed with cancer three years ago, died at the couple’s home in the Pacific Palisades, Short’s manager, Marc Gurvitz, confirmed. The true cause of the actresses' death has not been revealed, but the general consensus is that her cancer returned . She had surgery to remove a tumor from her groin in 2007.

Martin Short and Nancy met in 1972 and fell head over heels in love with each other while working together on the Toronto production of Godspell that also starred Victor Garber, Gilda Radner, Eugene Levy, Dave Thomas and Andrea Martin.  From that time forward the couple was inseparable right up until  the much loved lady passed away on Saturday. Dolman and Short married in 1980 and have three children, Katherine, 27, Oliver, 24, and Henry, 20. Nancy retired from acting in 1985 to raise her family.
Reports have come back that the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a medical emergency at the couple's home around  8:30 AM on Saturday. The emergency crew was supposedly there for half an hour with no sign of a patient being moved.  That  would indicate Nancy died at home.

Short has been a staple of film and television for many years. He  is best known for his acting parts on 'Saturday Night Live' and the 'Father of the Bride' film series. He has been in numerous other films; 'The Three Fugatives' comes to mind. At present Short is nominated for an Emmy for outstanding supporting actor in a drama category for his work in 'Damages.'

The family will issue a statement in due time. I think at the moment they are still dealing with their shock and grief. We send our sincere sympathy to the Short family.

My/I love Martin Short in all his movies and think he is a great guy.

30 years...now that's saying something for the couple...just proves that there is still people in Hollywood that believe in the sanction of marriage.
